December 12th, 2011:
Over the show season we attended 4 shows
with several ponies. Wandarra Pippen
attended 3 of these shows and was champion
shetland stallion at Port Fairy, Noorat and
Camperdown Ag. shows. Balnagown Macneil came
out after 2 years off the show scene to
attend instead of Pippen for a champion
stallion at Warrnambool Ag. Show.
Yearling filly Glen Ardan Charisma (sired by
Wandarra Pippen) attended her first show and
was Reserve Junior Champion Filly at
Warrnambool Ag. Colvadale Show Girl was
Champion Mare at Port Fairy Show, and
Pentland La Diva was Reserve Mare at Noorat
Ag. Show.
This
weekend past we attended the Victorian All
Shetland Show with some nice results.
Colvadale Show Girl who has been off the
show scene for 2 years since having a foal,
won the Broken coloured mare class, and also
won the shetland mare 5&6 years of age.
First time out under saddle she was third in
the first season saddle shetland only after
3 weeks under saddle and worked very well.
She then accompanied Maddie Michelotti in
the Junior Handler class prior to the pair
winning the fancy dress class as the Royal
Wedding, with the pony as Prince William and
Maddie as Kate Middleton.
Yearling filly Glen Ardan Charisma won the
yearling filly class and we were wrapped
with her on her second only outing. Pentland
La Diva took out Reserve Champion mare 9.2hh
and under. All ponies won ribbons, so we had
a great weekend under international judge
Steve Rendall from Shetland.

September 6th, 2011:
We
attended 2 foal shows over May. The first
was the Castlemaine Youngstock show. We
campaigned with Wandarra Pippen who was
champion stallion, and our mare Colvadale
Show Girl, who was Champion mare and Supreme
Shetland Exhibit. We also took a filly foal,
Glen Ardan Perpetual, who was champion
shetland foal, and Supreme foal exhibit.
We attended the APSB Vic. foal show at
Werribee with 3 foals. Balnagown Fraser won
his small colt class. Balnagown Bonnie Lass
went second in her smaller filly class and
was very well behaved for her first show.
Glen Ardan Perpetual was very overwhelmed in
the big shed and unfortunately wouldn't work
for the judge at all! She was otherwise well
behaved and all the better for her second
outing.
Our foaling season has started with a sad
start so far, with a premature filly born
from maiden mare Lentara Harmony by
Koolangatha Tumbleweed. A lovely black filly
with a white star who unfortunately did not
live despite our vet doing his best. Only
days later we noticed another foal born very
premature, and unfortunately lost his mother
as well, to what we believe was grass tetany,
a very lethal condition. So the broodmare
gang are getting salt/calcium blocks for
their paddock. Despite this we are looking
forward to the rest of the foaling season,
awaiting foals from Wandarra Pippen, Glen
Ardan Conrad, Lentara Armadeua, Balnagown
Macneil, and Koolangatha Tumbleweed.
We are planning on attending the NSW
Shetland Supershow at the end of October
with a team of four. We are looking forward
to the dinner with the international judge
from Shetland. Before this, and till April
next year we hope to attend a few more shows
than last year (only 4), and this year
Balnagown Macallister joins the ranks of the
show team in harness.
We hope to see everyone out and about at the
shows. Please feel free to enquire about our
youngstock and this years drop of foals. We
have kept all 6 fillies from last years crop
of foals and so this year many will be
offered for sale. We are also offering some
of our broodmares to make way for our young
fillies.

February 7th, 2010:
We
travelled to Bendigo to attend the Vic APSB
show on the 16th and 17th of January with a
team of 5 ponies. We had a really good show
under NZ judge Lois Newick. Our stallion
Wandarra Pippen won his stallion class and
was awarded Champion Stallion. Then our colt
Balnagown Macneil won his 3yo colt class and
was awarded Champion colt. We showed
Colvadale Show Girl in the Broodmare class
and she also came home with a broad ribbon,
receiving Reserve Champion Broodmare. Our
little mare Pentland La Diva placed second
in a strong class of under 9.2hh mares, and
finally our 3yo gelding placed 3rd in his
class, although he was very nervous with all
the wind and didn't work so well.
Thanks to all those who helped us prior to
and during the show, and although I don't
want to start mentioning names in case I
forget someone, I would like to give a huge
thank you to Julie Michelotti for the great
job she did leading the boys and Deb who was
there all the way from Adelaide who led
Macalister and Show Girl.
It was good to see the number of entries up
again, with some classes bordering on the
numbers from the "old days" in the 80's when
numbers would get into the 20's for filly
and mare classes. Congrats to other winners
and I hope they are as proud of their ponies
as we were with ours on the weekend.

May 25th:
We attended the Western Promotional Group foal show with success. We took Balnagown Karma and Balnagown Lilac (now with Cleoranee Stud).
Karma was first in the older filly class in ring one and Champion Filly. Lilac was very overwhelmed and didn’t want to run to the judge but still got second.
In ring two both fillies won their class with Karma again taking the championship.
We waited around for the supreme and once again Karma did the stud proud by taking this ribbon. We thank Kylie Dooley for showing the ponies (as I was sick).
We are now looking forward to the foal show at Werribee. We will be taking four or five to this show, and delivering Glen Ardan Cadet for his new owner Helen Sheehan. |

March 8th:
Emerald or M&M as she is know affectionately, successfully competed at the Victorian Shetland show and the Vic stud show winning Reserve Broodmare at the Shetland show, and champ broodmare at the stud show. She has now been put to run with Pippen hopefully for a 09 foal. |

October 21st:
Another fantastic show result for our resident stallion, Wandarra Pippen. Pippen was awarded Champion Shetland Stallion at the recent Geelong Royal Show. He then went on to be sashed Supreme Shetland Exhibit! |

 |
September 13th:
Our breeding season has well and truly commenced with three foals arriving safely. Our latest foal is a black filly by Wandarra Pippen out of Balnagown Jezabeel. All three of our foals born so far are offered for sale and most can be viewed on our foal page. Please email for more information. Sadly we also lost a black colt by Balnagown Brodie (dec) out of Arapaho Little Squaw.
We want to wish Kylie, Gerard and the girls at Cleoranee Stud well with Balnagown Glisten (piebald mare) in foal to S. G. Conrad. Glisten is hopefully expecting a coloured foal for them this season.
We have had approx. 12 inches of rain since start of July until last weekend. The farm is very wet and muddy but at least we are expecting a good spring. |

 |
February 3rd:
We had a good hay season here at Glen Ardan, and the cows and ponies are all lovely and fat. We have had two foals, the first a grey filly from Fenwick Molly by SG Conrad. We also had a chestnut filly out of Paluka Damselle by Fenwick Emmett. We are expecting a foal from Wandarra Pleasure and maybe a suprise arrival from old Corinley Rita as she looks like she is definitely in foal. |

June
6th: Glen
Ardan Jazz has gone to a new home with
Rebecca Hay and will be shown this coming
season. We are expecting 4 foals this coming
season. We do have a show quality colt for
lease who is black. Excellent nature and
good old breeding. We had over 6 inches of
rain for May which was excellent but now
need sun and warmth for the grass to grow.
We went to the foal show at Ballarat on
Sunday with good results. We took Balnagown
Lullaby and Macneil, and Glen Ardan Jazz was
taken by her new owner Rebecca Hay.
Ring 1. Champion
Shetland: Glen Ardan Jazz
Reserve: Balnagown Macneil
Ring 2. Champion
Shetland: Balnagown Lullaby
Reserve: Balnagown Macneil
Ring 3. Reserve
Open pony under 12hh: Balnagown
Macneil
It was a great day for us and we are
thankful to the Western Promotional group
for putting the show on. |

May 7th: We have weaned most of our 2006 foals, only
a couple of late foals remain on the mares.
Glen Ardan Victoria was sold to a lovely
home in NSW with Helen Luby and we wish her
luck. We have a lovely colt Balnagown McNeil
who has nice bone and will hopefully be
attending some foal shows. We are very happy
with him and he will remain a colt, one of
only 5 in 30 odd years of breeding.
The filly Glen Ardan Jazz by Wandarra Pippen
is perhaps the heaviest foal the stud has
ever bred, and will mature about 9.2hh.
Despite being just weaned a week ago, she
goes into the dairy during milking without a
care! Very quiet filly who will only be sold
to a good show home.
Balnagown Macallister has not done as well,
as his dam is unwell, and he has suffered
from poor nutrition. We hope he will improve
as he still has a great frame.
Balnagown Lullaby is Brodie's first foal,
and we are happy with her. She is sweet and
mum wont part with her!
As most places we are praying for rain. They
keep saying it will, but it wont!!

Recently Millbrae Shannon was sold to a lovely home at Cleoranee Stud.
Kylie and family are happy with him and plan to show him at the shetland
show. We wish them luck with him in the future. We would also like to
thank Kylie for her assistance recently at the youngstock show, as
without her we would not have coped!
|
 |
Our
show team have been performing very well so
far this season, especially our young
stallion, Wandarra Pippen. Pippen was awarded
Grand Champion Shetland at Colac Show, and was
also The Supreme Shetland Exhibit at
Warrnambool Show. The recent Ballarat Welsh
Supporters Youngstock Show was particularly
successful for our studs with several
Championships being won by our ponies, and
Millbrae Kismet being awarded Supreme Champion
Shetland Exhibit. (Wandarra
Pippen & Colvadale Show Girl pic below)
We look forward to seeing everyone at the Shetland show on Dec 2 & 3rd.
